Project Description
Nature of work: This program involves volunteers assist teachers in various levels of education in several rural communities in Ghana. Participants can volunteer at any time throughout the year and can stay from a minimum period of Twenty-one (21) days to Twelve (12) months and more. The volunteer teaching opportunities are available in pre-school, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, and also Adult Education. Pre-school (Age 4 – 5 years) Language, Numeracy, Creative Arts (Music, Dance, Art) and Physical Training Primary (Age – 6 – 11 Years) English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Creative Arts, Physical Education (P. E.) Basic Computer Skills. Junior High School (Age 12 – 14 Years) English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science, Physical Education and I. C. T. Senior High School (Age – 15 – 18 Years) English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, French and I. C. T. (Adults Evening School)
Objectives
- To provide the care and education necessary to empower formally impoverished children to become leaders whom will dedicate their lives to the compassionate improvement of society by providing free education for needy children of all communities.
Participant profile
- 18 Years of age. Friendly with all other volunteers, members, and our communities (especially our children).
Costs Covered
Application fee 25USD. 3 weeks Stay 6 weeks Stay 8 weeks Stay $800 $1360 $1600 (for programmes stay longer than 8 weeks * Additional Cost: 80 euro per week) Our program fees include the following services: • Placement in a quality project, allowing you to maximize your time and efforts in a good cause. • Accommodations: Home stay, shared volunteer residence, guesthouses. Safe, clean, comfortable local housing, inspected by our local coordinators. • Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Special meals on request. • Guidance and support of a local project coordinator, 24/7 in case of emergency. Orientation/city briefing on arrival by our projects coordinator includes detailed travel, safety & cultural information and many tips that will make your trip planning easier. • Airport meets and greet by our project coordinator (At any time, any day!) • First night hotel accommodation *some programmes • Transportation arrangement to project sites, tourist and cultural centres. • Departure transfer by our project coordinator. • Volunteer Service Award certificate of achievement. • Letter of completion, a Letter of Introduction and Recommendation are provided detailing the activities developed by the volunteer during his or her stay Language and Immersion Programmes: Include 20 hours a week of local Language, Drumming, Dancing and Singing Lessons. Side Attraction: Free Weekends Participants will visit Tsatsadu Waterfalls, Wli Waterfalls – the highest waterfalls in West Africa and also Mount Afajdato, exciting and historic places, etc. Transportation arrangements from and to airport, to project sites, tourist and cultural centres are all well arrange with a private transport (minibus and taxi) rental service provider and are responsible for all our transportations.
